Salisbury's rising motorsport star John Bennett has continued to pledge his support for Great Ormond Street Hospital, including creating an exciting special helmet initiative later this year to help raise funds for the charity.

Over the past 18 months, whilst competing across the world in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, the youngster has been not only fighting for results on the track, but also supporting GOSH off the track as well, taking time to support families from the hospital.

Bennett, who claimed his first Formula 2 victory in Austria last weekend, will be giving paddock and garage tours to families from GOSH at Silverstone this weekend during the prestigious British Grand Prix event. He will also run the Great Ormond Street Hospital logo on his #25 Trident Racing car for the weekend.

In an exciting additional initiative, Bennett will soon be announcing a competition for children from GOSH to participate in. This will be to draw up a design for his race helmet, where one lucky entry will be the chosen design worn by Bennett for the final round of the year, held in Abu Dhabi. The helmet will then be auctioned off at the end of the season, with all proceeds from this going towards the charity.

GOSH continues to bring hope of better treatments to children with the rarest and most complex illnesses around the world since its beginnings back in 1852, consistently investing in ground-breaking research with the backing of supporters and fundraising activities to do so. Read more here.

John Bennett: "It's a pleasure to be able to support Great Ormond Street Hospital through what I do and what I love. I think it's important to be able to bring a little bit of that into the lives of children that deserve to have these memories, and the extra support that they need for their futures.

"We have been offering tours to families in the paddock, getting people up close to the cars on these mega weekends, and this year we're trying to do a bit more. I'll be running the logo on my car to spread awareness, give more tours to more families, and I'll be having a helmet design competition for those in the hospital to design my helmet to wear in Abu Dhabi to raise proceeds for GOSH in a fun and unique way. I'm excited already to see what designs we get!"
